- Contact us by email or through any contact form available on the Website.
- Request, purchase, or pay for a Paid Service.
- Otherwise interact with us in connection with the Service.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to websites, tools, or services operated by third parties, including websites linked from the Service, Third-Party Data Providers, and payment processors that act as independent controllers. Those third parties have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to read them.
The Service does not offer user registration or user accounts. We therefore do not collect usernames, passwords, or account profile information.
5. Personal Information We Collect
5.1 Information You Provide to Us
We collect the following personal information when you provide it to us:
- Contact and communication information: your name, email address, company name, and the content of any message you send to us, including attachments and any information you choose to include.

However, User Input may become personal information where it can be linked to you, for example where it is combined with your IP address or relates to a website that identifies an individual.
- Verification information: where needed to verify a privacy request or to prevent fraud, information you provide to confirm your identity or your authority to act.
5.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you use the Service, we and our service providers automatically collect certain technical information:
- Device and connection information: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, language settings, and time zone.
- Usage information: pages visited, links clicked, the date and time of visits, referring and exit pages, the queries you submit to the Tool, and the Ratings generated.

5.3 Information We Receive From Third Parties
We may receive personal information from the following third parties:

We do not receive or store your full card number or card security code.
- Banks: when you pay by ACH or wire transfer, we receive transfer details from our bank, as described in Section 5.1.
- Third-Party Data Providers: Ratings are generated from metrics and signals about websites and domains. This data relates to websites, not to individuals. In limited cases, website-level data may relate to a website that identifies an individual, such as a personal website or a sole trader’s website.
5.4 Information We Do Not Collect
We do not intentionally collect special categories of personal data, such as information about racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, genetic data, biometric data, health data, or data about sex life or sexual orientation. We do not collect government identification numbers, except where strictly required for legal or tax compliance. Please do not send us such information. If you do, we may delete it.
6. How We Use Personal Information and Our Legal Bases
We use personal information only for the purposes described below. Where the EU GDPR or the UK GDPR applies, we rely on the legal bases indicated for each purpose.
6.1 To Provide and Operate the Service
We use User Input, usage information, and device information to generate Ratings, to display results, to operate and maintain the Website, and to provide the features you request.
Legal basis: our legitimate interests in providing a functioning tool and website to our users, and, where you request a Paid Service, the performance of a contract with you.
6.2 To Process Orders, Payments, and Refunds
We use order, billing, and payment information to accept and fulfill Orders, to issue invoices and receipts, to process payments and refunds, to reconcile bank transfers, and to handle payment disputes and chargebacks.
Legal basis: performance of a contract with you, or steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, and compliance with our legal obligations.
6.3 To Communicate With You
We use contact and communication information to respond to your questions, requests, and complaints, to send you service-related messages about your Order, and to notify you of material changes to our policies.
Legal basis: our legitimate interests in responding to inquiries and managing our customer relationships, and performance of a contract where the communication relates to a Paid Service.
6.4 To Protect the Service and Prevent Fraud and Abuse
We use device, log, usage, and payment information to detect and prevent fraud, unauthorized transactions, automated scraping, abuse of usage limits, security incidents, and violations of our Terms of Service.
Legal basis: our legitimate interests in protecting the Service, our business, and our users, and compliance with our legal obligations.
6.5 To Analyze and Improve the Service
We use usage information and aggregated or de-identified data to understand how the Service is used, to measure performance, to fix errors, and to develop and improve the Tool and its methodology.
Legal basis: our legitimate interests in improving the Service. Where analytics relies on non-essential cookies or similar technologies, we rely on your consent where required by law, as described in our Cookie Policy.
6.6 To Comply With Legal Obligations
We use personal information as necessary to comply with tax, accounting, anti-money laundering, sanctions, and record-keeping obligations, to respond to lawful requests from public authorities, and to comply with court orders and other legal processes.
Legal basis: compliance with our legal obligations.
6.7 To Establish, Exercise, or Defend Legal Claims
We use personal information as necessary to enforce our Terms of Service, to respond to payment disputes, and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Legal basis: our legitimate interests in protecting our legal rights.
6.8 In Connection With Business Transfers
We may use and disclose personal information in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of our business or assets.
Legal basis: our legitimate interests in managing and developing our business.
6.9 Legitimate Interests
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered and balanced those interests against your rights and freedoms. You may request more information about this balancing by contacting us at finance@seorater.net. You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, as described in Section 11.
6.10 Marketing
We do not currently send marketing emails. If we introduce marketing communications in the future, we will do so only in accordance with applicable law, including by obtaining your consent where required, and every marketing message will include a simple way to unsubscribe.
7. Whether You Are Required to Provide Personal Information
You can use the free features of the Tool without providing your name or email address. Some technical information is collected automatically when you use the Website, as this is necessary for the Website to function and to remain secure.
If you purchase a Paid Service, we need certain order and billing information to accept your Order, to process your payment, and to comply with our legal obligations. If you do not provide this information, we will not be able to provide the Paid Service.
8. How We Disclose Personal Information
We do not sell personal information for money. We disclose personal information only as described below.
8.1 Service Providers
We disclose personal information to service providers that perform services on our behalf, such as website hosting, content delivery, security and bot protection, analytics, email and communications, IT support, accounting, and bookkeeping. These service providers may use personal information only as necessary to provide their services to us, under contractual obligations of confidentiality and data protection.
8.2 Payment Processors and Financial Institutions
When you pay through Stripe, your payment information is collected and processed directly by Stripe. Stripe acts as an independent controller for certain processing, such as fraud prevention and compliance with financial regulations, and its processing is governed by its own privacy policy. When you pay by ACH or wire transfer, your payment information is processed by the banks and financial institutions involved in the transfer.
8.3 Third-Party Data Providers
To generate Ratings, we may submit URLs and domain names to Third-Party Data Providers to retrieve metrics about those websites. We do not intentionally disclose your name, email address, or payment information to Third-Party Data Providers.
8.4 Professional Advisors
We may disclose personal information to our lawyers, accountants, auditors, tax advisors, and insurers, where necessary for them to provide professional services to us, under obligations of confidentiality.
8.5 Legal Requirements and Protection of Rights
We may disclose personal information where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with applicable law, a court order, a subpoena, or a lawful request from a public authority; to enforce our Terms of Service; to respond to a payment dispute; to detect or prevent fraud, security incidents, or illegal activity; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Company, our users, or others.
8.6 Business Transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or part of our business or assets, personal information may be disclosed to the other parties involved and may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will require the recipient to protect personal information in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy.
8.7 With Your Consent or at Your Direction
We may disclose personal information to other third parties where you have given your consent or directed us to do so.
8.8 Aggregated and De-identified Information
We may use and disclose aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you, for example statistics about the use of the Tool. Where we maintain de-identified information, we will not attempt to re-identify it, except as permitted by law.
9. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Website, to keep it secure, to remember your preferences, and, where permitted, to understand how the Website is used. Where required by law, we request your consent before placing non-essential cookies on your device. You can withdraw your consent or change your preferences at any time. For more information, please see our Cookie Policy.
9.1 Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
Where required by applicable law, we treat a Global Privacy Control (“GPC”) signal sent by your browser as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising for that browser. Because there is no common industry standard for “Do Not Track” signals, we do not respond to Do Not Track signals, except where required by law.
10. International Data Transfers
The Company is based in the United States, and personal information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our team members and service providers are located, including countries in Europe. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from the laws of your country.
Where we transfer personal information from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland to a country that has not been recognized as providing an adequate level of data protection, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as:
- The Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, together with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum where applicable.
- An adequacy decision, such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, where the recipient is certified under it.
- Other lawful transfer mechanisms or derogations permitted by applicable law, including where the transfer is necessary for the performance of a contract with you.
You may request more information about the safeguards we use by contacting us at finance@seorater.net.
11. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live and the laws that apply to you, you may have some or all of the rights described below. These rights are not absolute and may be subject to exceptions and limitations under applicable law.
11.1 Rights Under the EU GDPR and the UK GDPR
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the following rights:
- Right of access: to obtain confirmation of whether we process your personal information and to receive a copy of it, together with information about how it is processed.
- Right to rectification: to have inaccurate personal information corrected and incomplete personal information completed.
- Right to erasure: to have your personal information deleted in certain circumstances, for example where it is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.
- Right to restriction: to have the processing of your personal information restricted in certain circumstances, for example while we verify a request for rectification.
- Right to data portability: to receive personal information that you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, and to have it transmitted to another controller where technically feasible, where processing is based on consent or contract and carried out by automated means.
- Right to object: to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on our legitimate interests. We will stop processing unless we demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights, and freedoms, or unless the processing is needed for legal claims. You have an absolute right to object to direct marketing.
- Right to withdraw consent: where processing is based on consent, to withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
- Right to lodge a complaint: to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the country where you live, work, or where an alleged infringement took place. In the United Kingdom, the supervisory authority is the Information Commissioner’s Office. We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concern first, so please consider contacting us before you contact a supervisory authority.
11.2 Rights Under U.S. State Privacy Laws
If you are a resident of California or of another U.S. state with a comprehensive consumer privacy law, and where that law applies to us, you may have the following rights:
- Right to know and access: to request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the purposes for which we collected it, and the categories of third parties to which we disclosed it.
- Right to delete: to request the deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to correct: to request the correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Right to data portability: to receive your personal information in a portable and, where technically feasible, readily usable format.
- Right to opt out: to opt out of the sale of personal information, the sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, targeted advertising, and profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
- Right to limit the use of sensitive personal information: we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would give rise to this right under the CCPA.
- Right to non-discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights, including by denying you the Service, charging you different prices, or providing a different quality of service.
- Right to appeal: where required by the law of your state, to appeal our decision on your privacy request, as described in Section 12.5.
11.3 Rights Under Other Laws
If you are located in another jurisdiction, such as the Republic of Serbia, Switzerland, Canada, or another country with data protection laws, you may have similar rights under the laws of that jurisdiction. We will respond to requests in accordance with the law that applies to you.
12. How to Exercise Your Rights
12.1 Submitting a Request
To exercise any of your rights, please contact us at finance@seorater.net. Please include your name, the email address you used in any communication or Order with us, your country or state of residence, and a clear description of the right you wish to exercise. Submitting a request is free of charge, except where a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive, in which case we may charge a reasonable fee or refuse the request where permitted by law.
12.2 Verification
Because the Service does not offer user accounts, we verify requests by matching the information you provide with the information we hold, for example by asking you to confirm the email address used for an Order or to provide details of a transaction. We may ask for additional information where needed to confirm your identity. We will use any information provided for verification only for that purpose.
Some information we collect, such as IP addresses and log data, is not linked to a name or email address. In many cases we may be unable to identify which records relate to you, and we may be unable to fulfill a request for such information if we cannot reasonably verify that it relates to you. Where this is the case, we will explain this in our response.
12.3 Authorized Agents
Where permitted by law, you may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We may require the agent to provide written, signed permission from you, and we may ask you to verify your identity directly with us, unless the agent holds a valid power of attorney under applicable law.
12.4 Response Times
For requests under the EU GDPR or the UK GDPR, we will respond within one (1) month of receipt. This period may be extended by up to two (2) further months where necessary, taking into account the complexity and number of requests, in which case we will inform you of the extension and the reasons for it.
For requests under U.S. state privacy laws, we will confirm receipt within ten (10) business days where required, and respond within forty-five (45) days of receipt. This period may be extended by up to a further forty-five (45) days where reasonably necessary, in which case we will inform you of the extension.
12.5 Appeals
If we decline to take action on your request, we will explain the reasons. Where the law of your state provides a right to appeal, you may appeal our decision by emailing finance@seorater.net with the subject line “Privacy Request Appeal” within a reasonable time after receiving our decision. We will respond to your appeal within the period required by applicable law. If your appeal is denied, you may contact the Attorney General of your state.
12.6 Exceptions
We may decline or limit a request where permitted by law, for example where fulfilling it would adversely affect the rights and freedoms of others, where we must retain information to comply with a legal obligation, or where information is needed to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. Where we retain information for such reasons, we will limit its use to those purposes.
13. Notice to California Residents
This Section provides additional information required by the CCPA. It applies only to California residents and only to the extent that the CCPA applies to us.
13.1 Categories of Personal Information Collected
In the past twelve (12) months, we may have collected the following categories of personal information, as defined by the CCPA:
- Identifiers: such as name, email address, IP address, and online identifiers.
- Customer records: such as name, billing address, and limited payment information, as described in California Civil Code Section 1798.80(e).
- Commercial information: such as records of Paid Services purchased and transaction history.
- Internet or other electronic network activity information: such as browsing activity on the Website, queries submitted to the Tool, and interactions with the Website.
- Geolocation data: approximate location derived from IP address. We do not collect precise geolocation.
- Professional or employment-related information: such as company name, where you provide it.
- Inferences: limited inferences about your interests drawn from your use of the Service, where analytics cookies are used.
We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CCPA, other than limited account or card information that is necessary to process a payment and that is handled by our payment processor.
13.2 Sources, Purposes, and Recipients
The sources of this personal information are described in Section 5. The business and commercial purposes for which we collect and use it are described in Section 6. The categories of recipients to which we disclose it for a business purpose are described in Section 8.
13.3 Sale and Sharing
We do not sell personal information for money. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under sixteen (16) years of age. Where we use analytics or advertising cookies or similar technologies that may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CCPA, we will provide a means to opt out, including through our cookie preferences settings and by honoring GPC signals as described in Section 9.1.
13.4 Retention
The periods for which we retain each category of personal information are described in Section 14.
14. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to meet legal, tax, accounting, and reporting requirements, to resolve disputes, and to enforce our agreements. In general, we apply the following retention periods:
- Server logs and security data: up to twelve (12) months from collection, unless needed for longer to investigate a security incident or abuse.
- User Input and associated usage records: up to twenty-four (24) months from collection, after which they are deleted or de-identified. Ratings and aggregated statistics that do not identify you may be retained for longer.
- Communications with us: up to three (3) years from our last communication with you, unless they relate to an Order or a dispute.
- Order, billing, payment, and invoice records: up to seven (7) years from the end of the relevant financial year, to meet tax, accounting, and legal obligations.
- Records relating to disputes, chargebacks, and legal claims: for as long as the dispute or claim is pending and for the applicable limitation period afterwards.
- Records of privacy requests: up to twenty-four (24) months from our response, or longer where required by law.
- Cookie data: as described in our Cookie Policy.
When personal information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it. Where deletion is not immediately technically possible, for example in backups, we will isolate the information from further use until deletion is possible.
15. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These measures include encrypted connections to the Website using HTTPS, access controls that limit access to personal information to persons who need it, and the use of third-party payment processors so that we do not receive or store full card details.
No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of personal information. You are responsible for keeping your own devices and email accounts secure, and for verifying any request that appears to come from us, as described in our Terms of Service.
15.1 Security Incidents
If we become aware of a security incident that affects your personal information, we will take appropriate steps to contain and investigate it, and we will notify affected individuals and the competent authorities where and within the time required by applicable law.
16. Automated Decision-Making
Ratings are generated automatically about websites and backlinks, not about individuals. We do not use personal information to make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affect you. Our fraud prevention measures, and those of our payment processor, may use automated signals to flag or decline a transaction. If a transaction is declined and you believe this was in error, you may contact us at finance@seorater.net to request a human review.
17. Children’s Privacy
The Service is intended for persons aged eighteen (18) years or older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under eighteen (18) years of age. If you believe that a person under eighteen (18) has provided personal information to us, please contact us at finance@seorater.net, and we will take steps to delete that information.
18. Third-Party Websites and Services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites and may rely on third-party services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. When you leave the Website or provide information directly to a third party, such as Stripe, that third party’s privacy policy applies.
19. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Service, our practices, or applicable law. When we do, we will post the updated Privacy Policy on the Website and update the Effective Date above. If a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, for example by a notice on the Website or by email where we hold a relevant email address. Where required by law, we will obtain your consent to material changes.
